The first morning in Port Douglas, I was a little dismayed.
It turns out that despite the glorious weather and 35degree days, the local business owners consider this the off-season time and most of them close shop for maintenance or for holidays. Only half the stores in Macrossan Street were open which meant my breakfast options were limited.
Bummer. We all know how much I enjoy my breakfast!
We did a wander through to find that one the more popular breakfast spots was open – The Little Larder.
And they were buzzing! We were lucky to get a seat without having to wait for very long.
These days I have a bit of a sweet tooth.
I don’t think I have ever ordered waffles before, they just seemed rather…blah.
But these…these waffles were delicious. With a generous serving of mascarpone (Italian cream cheese) and drizzled with vanilla cinnamon syrup. It has definitely changed my mind on the sweet/savoury breakfast debate.
The husband strangely enough has been opting for fairly simple and clean breakfast options. Having said that though…we do always swap plates half way through 😛
Scrambled eggs, spinach and a grilled tomato.
I love the cute little dish the spinach was served in.
Overall a great visit with quick and efficient service. Plenty of options available for breakfast!
