What to expect: At the Yoga Billabong Retreat, Sydney

45 minutes away from the Sydney CBD in Maralya is Billabong Retreat. The retreat focused on healthy eating, yoga and wellness. In the next post I will give a brief overview of my weekend and what I have taken away from the Billabong Retreat.

Accommodation:

There is a variety of options when booking for accommodation at Billabong Retreat. If you can afford to spoil yourself you can get a deluxe cabin with a bathtub on the balcony or a villa by the pool.

Since this was a solo trip, I ended up booking the Treehouse Quad which is a shared en suite. 4 single beds set up in twin share style with a room divider in the middle. I shared with a family of a mum and 2 daughters. They were wonderful and easy to share with. Ultimately I didn’t end up spending much time in the room anyway.

The room and bathroom were basic but clean. We had a balcony with a gorgeous view of the lush bush. At night it got pretty cold but we had hot water bottles on our beds that just needed to be filled up. I loved this because this is exactly how I sleep at home in winter.

Property:

The property itself is gorgeous and brings a peaceful relaxed feeling. There is a lot of wildlife on the property like possums, many birds (cockatoos, kookaburras, rosellas etc) etc. There were plenty of places to sit around and read quietly or practice mediation or yoga on your own during your free time. I spent a good few hours sitting by the billabong reading Wild with the sun shining on me. Perfect.

Facilities:

The retreat had a communal dining room, outside sitting area with a fireplace, library, yoga/movie room, pool as well as massages and facial spas which need to be booked in advance.

Value: I paid $500 AUD for accommodation Friday and Saturday night. This included all meals, including snacks, coffee (YES!! coffee on a retreat!!), tea, I squeezed in 7 yoga classes, a movie night as well as a nutrition talk. Well worth every dollar. If you stay during midweek you will save about $100.

Stay tuned for my next post on what I did at the retreat and whether a retreat like this is something you need to do for yourself as well 🙂

Billabong Retreat is located at 41 McClymonts Road, Maraylya, Sydney, NSW
