Sydney Weekend Eats

If you have been wondering where I have been hiding let me tell you my life has been taken over by Farmville. Again. I could write a whole post on how it has consumed my life.  Gaming addiction is a real thing right?

Well this post is from a weekend when my life wasn’t consumed by virtual farming and instead revolved around eating.

Started off the day visiting my fave local hidden gem – Coffee Embassy!

This is where I have brunch nearly every fortnight. I’m pretty consistent with what I order. On this particular day the boy ordered the usual Northmead Bacon and Egg Roll with the “surprise” addition of avocado and mushrooms. It was soooo good. So good that I forgot to take a picture until I only had a couple of bites of my roll left…whoops.

Remember the Dry May Challenge I was having? Well the boy was also giving himself a break from alcohol. We visited the Firefly in Neutral Bay because he wanted to see if the zucchini fries tasted as good when you were sober (haha)..

Zucchini fries were delicious and I’m not even a fan of zucchini. I do like how zucchini (much like eggplant) is such a versatile vegetable. The fries had a thick batter with plenty of seasoning. Only downside is paying $15 for a serve of these is difficult when sober.

The day ended with some comfort food from a familiar place – Berala Gourmet Noodle House. This is the perfect kind of place to visit in winter. The endless (free) cups of tea are just one reason ..

chicken laksa

The laksa is favourite of mine. The dish is perfect for winter. After a couple of bites I had to take my scarf and my coat off because the laksa had warmed up my whole body.

The chicken chili basil stir fry below also fared well as a familiar favourite.

Both dishes above were a bargain totaling $24. Plus I was thrifty enough to take the leftovers home for the next days lunch. Too good to let go to waste 🙂

  1. Haha omg I totally know what you mean by getting addicted to Farmville. I had to deactivate my account when it came out a few years ago because it was distracting me from work! And I LOVE that you are eating laksa! A lot of people don’t know about it in the states but my mom is Singaporean and I’ve been lucky enough to get some of her great homemade laksa 🙂

    1. Sooo addictive right but it keeps me away from my other addictions – the Kim Kardashian app lol.
Laksa is a favourite of mine! So good in winters. I completely regret mot having a laksa when I visited Singapore a few years ago.

  2. Lovely post as usual! Love that you take out the time post reviews! Once upon a time I got addicted to Farmville too and as Lisa mentioned above, I also had to deactivate my account! Yeah, gaming addiction does exist especially with tons of homework…it is the perfect tool for escaping and procrastination!
